Plot
-CIA agent Church wants Barney Ross and his "Expendables" to go on a mission. They are being hired as guns for hire to go to the former Soviet Union to retrieve an item lost on a plane crash. Along with them comes a woman named Maggie. She is going to simply make sure they get what they came for.

-They find the plane and get their desired object, but one of Barney's team members is taken hostage by some mysterious men. They demand that Barney give them the item or their hostage is killed. Barney asks Maggie why it was so important to them. She reveals that it was a map showing the way to a Russian plutonium storage mine. Barney tracks down the man behind it and deals with him in his own way. When he does find the man, he finds this man named Vilain is the leader of a group called The Sangs and that they take men from the local villages to work in the mines.

In the movie, it says he turned down a job in that career to impress a girl. In real life, he turned down a job in chemical engineering to work as a boydguard for then girlfriend Grace Jones
-Jet Li did not originally want to star in this movie. He wanted to focus less on American movies
