Did You Know?
-Colin Farrell was the original choice for Watson before Jude Law stepped in
-The first Sherlock Holmes film to reach the US in over 20 years, since the movie Without a Clue with Michael Caine came out in 1988, where he played Sherlock Holmes
-Sienna Miller, who is Jude Law's ex-fiancee, was considered for a role before he was cast
-The home that was used for Sherlock Holme's home was used as Sirius Black's home in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
-When Watson says to Holmes "You know what you're drinking is for eye surgery?", that's a reference to the fact Holmes used cocaine. In the time of Victorian England, cocaine was used as an anesthetic for eye surgery
-Rachel McAdams, Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. did most of their own stunts

-During the scene where Holmes is reenacting a black magic ceremony, there is a quick view of an inn called The Punch Bowl. This is Guy Ritchie's bar in Mayfair, London.
-In the stories, Holmes knew a type of martial art called Baritsu. In the movie, Holmes knows how to perform Wing Chun Kung Fu. Robert Downey Jr. performs this martial art in real life
-Before the beginning of the movie, there are numerous references to Lord Blackwood killing five women. Five is the number of women that historians say Victorian, England-era serial killer Jack the Ripper killed
-The murders and attempted murder all point to Greek elements. Burial crime scene (Earth), drowning (water), immolation (fire) and poison gas (air)
